...the one that went on my m-14 (Vietnam era) looked like that one, but it's been a few years so I could be wrong. I never been wrong before, but it's possible I suppose.

...the M1 Garand was a fine rifle. I never fired one but I have fired other 30.06 caliber weapons and they kick entirely too hard to suit my gentle nature. The M-14 uses a 7.62 (.30Cool which I found entirely suitable for all purposes except carrying (I preferred something lighter). My current weapon of choice (since I am a civilian and have a choice)

I know it was designated as a "bayonet," ribit ... 'cuz it fit on the end of an M-1 Garand ... but it's really a knife. I have my grandfather's bayonet from his service in France during World War I - THAT is a true bayonet - with a blade that is 3 or more times the length of the M5.
