Take a look at this. I trusted Christian Access Network, due to past experience with their book/video on al Fuqra, so I'm interested in what they produce on this.
According to politifact, PBS produced it during the Bush administration using our tax money (now we know why Trump wants to kill funding to PBS). The material is provided by DOE as a resource for teachers, but is not mandatory. I share CAN's view that it should be dumped.
Importantly, politfact says,
"Access Islam is a real program for school teachers looking to offer lesson plans on the religion of Islam. But to say it’s part of an "indoctrination program" delivered from the federal government isn’t accurate."
So, ok forgetting about indoctrination, it IS a DOE program. That is bad news and totally inappropriate if it contains lesson plans described by CAN.
