Been thinking about my decision. Was it fear ?
No, not really. I didn't want more complication in my life, and putting that sign up would have resulted in more 'anonymous' unsubstantiated complaints from some living around here. Complaints to the sheriff's dept, to Adult Protective nazis, Animal Control, Fire Marshal - they have all been sicced on me in the past few years.
Can't afford to fight the legal battles that would ensue- and have absolutely no desire to be in contact with ANY of them.
But mostly - after having been seriously assaulted on my own property and having the 'authorities' do F ALL about it, including the court; I made a decision that if anyone ever attacked me again, I would kill them with my bare hands. No ifs, ands, or buts about it - it is a firm resolve.
And THAT is something I do not wish to do - and that is really the bottom line to my decision not to put up a sign.
Had to think it through, determine whether I'm being honest with myself - and the above reflects the end result of that self-examination.
