...sorry, what I meant was that I didn't think the gene stuff should be used to make taller, blonder, citizens. Curing diseases is fine but some things just cut the wrong way.

Immediacy of need has a marvelous way of creating converts.

"God's handiwork" gave my brother a condition that has blessed him with literally hundreds of benign tumors spread throughout his body (none life-threatening as yet) with the added perk of kidney stones. Since - Christian Scientists' beliefs notwithstanding - gene therapy is his only real hope, I'd be willing to wager that he disagrees with you.
