Senator Cruz:
Mr. Mueller, as a matter of law, must be recused from his current position as special counsel to the DOJ in any investigations involving matters with which James Comey was associated.
Mr. Mueller has a long and well documented personal friendship with James Comey.
As the Justice Department Statement issued today, June 8, 2017 titled "Department of Justice Issues Statement on Testimony of Former FBI Director James Comey" specifically points out, recusal is required when a DOJ attourney has either a personal or professional relationship with any individual or entity that may be involved with the investigation.
There is not a single aspect of the current investigation into Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, or election interference that does NOT involve James Comey.
As pointed out above, the personal relationship between Mr. Mueller and James Comey is well documented and of a long standing nature. So is their political association, having served together on innumerable times in the past on countless different issues.

In response to testimony given today by former FBI Director James Comey, Department of Justice Spokesman Ian Prior issued the following statement:
Shortly after being sworn in, Attorney General Sessions began consulting with career Department of Justice ethics officials to determine whether he should recuse himself from any existing or future investigations of any matters related in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.
Those discussions were centered upon 28 CFR 45.2, which provides that a Department of Justice attorney should not participate in investigations that may involve entities or individuals with whom the attorney has a political or personal relationship."
Just as Attourney General Sessions recused himself from these investigations, so must Mr. Mueller be recused.
