In the residue of the terrorist attack in Manchester I would like to rid the earth of some ideas the democrats developed, perfected and used to lose the war in Vietnam.
This may take several posts before I have thoroughly vented by craw.
Proportional Response: Which was thunk up by Robt S. McNamara. He wrote about it in his book "The Fog of War".
IMHO a Proportional Response is only a good idea if you are playing for a tie, otherwise all responses should be all out of proportion to the escalation of hostilities by the other side. If Proportional Response had been the Union Policy during the civil war then that war would still be going on. To win a war ya have to break the will of the other side.
