HTC argued that the jury wasn't properly informed because Judge Grewal had only adopted part of its proposed construction for the term “entire oscillator.” The judge accepted that the limitation is “not satisfied by an accused system that uses any external clock to generate a signal” but rejected an additional sentence stating that an accused product can infringe only if it “does not rely on an input control to determine its frequency.”
