Yes, but I'm not so sure that Jorge Mario Bergoglio can legitimately claim that he literally stands in the shoes of Simon Bar-Jonah.

If Jesus were to come back today and ask "Pope Francis" the same question he asked of Peter - "Who do you say I am?" - it wouldn't surprise me in the least if ol' Jorge's first inclination would be to respond with - "You're the new administrator who is going to bring us diversity, equity, and inclusion."

Re: “WHO declared him [Poopy pants Pope Francis] the leader of the world???”
I was doing a little reading to see why Catholics feel there's a need for a pope. It stems from Matthew 16:18. While the Bible normally puts me to sleep, I did think this was interesting:

When Jesus came to the region of Ceasarea Philippi, he asked his disciples "Who do people say the Son of Man is?"

They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets."

"But what about you?' he asked. "Who do you say I am?'

Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

The Catholic Church sees three important points here:

The Primacy of Simon Bar-Jonah above the other apostles demonstrated through his divinely-inspired response to Jesus.

The establishment of Simon Bar-Jonah, renamed "Peter," as the Rock from which Christ expressed intention to build His Church.

The handing over of the keys to the kingdom with the authority to "loose" and "bind."
