Read the article. Trump never "sided with Russia," you nitwit. He plainly spoke to the facts:
1. The Russian government is hostile towards the United States and its citizens and they take a very no-nonsense and vigilant approach towards drugs that are illegal to possess in their country.

2. Brittney Griner knowingly traveled to Russia while in possession of cannabis, which is illegal in Russia, and this indicates that Griner is stupid and a spoiled brat who expects to receive special treatment.

3. The Russian government wants to use Griner's stupidity as an opportunity to trade her for one of Putin's pals - Viktor Bout (aka, "The Merchant of Death") - who is presently sitting in a U.S. prison after being convicted for arms dealing and conspiring to kill Americans. Trump has truthfully opined that giving into Putin and making this trade is a bad idea that is not in the best interests of the American people.

So, in fact, Trump is NOT taking sides with Russia - he is actually advocating that we oppose Putin's wishes to get his dangerous buddy back via this very bad trade. These Russian charges against Griner have not been fabricated - by her own admission, Griner is guilty. So, Griner needs to take responsibility for her own actions and except the consequences. If the Russians want to swap her for some penny ante Russian crook, fine ... but otherwise, she needs to realize that her being an overpaid WNBA player doesn't mean squat.
