I was reading an article on a Greece’s WSJ equivalent newspaper, and it dawned on me that exactly what the political separations are there, pretty much the same ones exist here, but the problem with us is that they are hiding inside the two parties in power, pulled to doing crazy stuff from all directions.
The difference is startling in getting things done. In Greece the New Democracy party in power is the conservatives, and they are getting things done at a good clip. The socialists are split in two parties, Syriza, in power until a couple of years back but trailing badly now in polls, PASOK, the socialist party that brought Greece to its knees ten years ago and is now in shambles, and then we have the communists and the splintered ultra right in smaller percentages. They are represented in parliament but unable to alter course other than making noise and being heard. The exact same thing we need here. Instead, we have these kinds of groups making lots more noise and grinding progress to a halt inside the two parties in Congress. That’s a big problem and it now is obvious. We are nearly paralyzed.
So here is the article that shows how these groups are splintered and largely ineffective in altering the big, serious, and important goals of the much more focused political party in power, this time the conservatives, a basically center-right party, not crazies..It is about the unvaccinated, but the parties associated with them are an eye opener:

Basically, the socialists, left, and far right are against vaccination. Go figure.
