In fact, I think I see a flaw in the new study: It says "...a neurological or psychiatric diagnosis was found in 33.62% of individuals with 12.84% receiving their first such diagnosis." So the news ought to be that there's been a 12.84% jump, not the implied 33+% number.

Even that is misleading, though. One would need to look into what non-Covid sufferers have experienced before any conclusion could be drawn. After all, the anxiety that's being reported might be because of the nutso society we're in. Or maybe because of the masks. Or because of loved ones who contracted Covid. Or the BLM crapola. I would expect a significant increase in mental illness as a result of the year we just experienced, true for both Covid-19 patients and those who stayed physically healthy.
