Likely not.

But as your logical question suggests, there was no sane reason to not only put and keep an ambassador there basically unrotected, but also to DENY that compound military assistamnce that could have reached them to repel the attack speaks volumes as to ulterior motives... imo

I've said this before and I'll say it again . . .

What sort of pea-brained morons would put an Ambassador
in a terrorist infested place like Libya without at
least a battalion of Marines to keep him company.
