BREAKING: Chinese telecom executive wanted by U.S. is granted bail with travel restrictions by Canadian judge in case that has heightened China-U.S. tensions
Meng Wanzhou, chief financial officer of telecom giant Huawei and daughter of its founder,
will be released from custody if she posts bail equivalent to U.S. $7.5 million,
a judge in Vancouver ruled Tuesday.
The U.S. is seeking to extradite Meng on accusations of trying to violate U.S. sanctions against Iran. She was arrested in Canada at the behest of the U.S. on Dec. 1 as she was changing planes in Vancouver.
