BREAKING: Federal judge orders Trump administration to reunify migrant families, halt separations
A federal judge in San Diego issued a preliminary injunction that orders immigration agents to stop separating parents and children, to reunify families with children under age 5 within 14 days and to reunify families with children 5 years old and older within 30 days.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order last Wednesday to end the family separations initiated by his administration's "zero tolerance" policy, but the government has yet to reunite about 2,000 children with their parents.
U.S. District Court Judge Dana Sabraw said in his ruling that "the facts set forth before the Court portray reactive governance — responses to address a chaotic circumstance of the Government's own making."
