Captain,
I expect before I die one of the most important
components of my 'retirement income' will be coming
from the dividend checks of at least some of the
companies I own shares of now.

For example, I own shares in Dominion Enterprises.
The dividend check is a respectable 'return on investment'
(decent yield) and it is, despite the recent shellacking
of the markets, worth a LOT more than I paid for it.

I am putting a healthy percentage of my future
retirement monies into shares of individual companies
I expect will be around for a very long time, and which
I expect will increase the dividends more often than not.

Zim.

Speaking of dividends. I just looked at a retirement plan I had when I worked for the county noxious weed control board. I just read the paper work and I get 5.5% even if I quit. I have a small amount there from working 8 months for them and i hope i can keep contributing from another Job. This will be my retirement........

I will find out tomorrow.......
