it's typical of trump to shift blame in advance. i suspect the deputy ag was set up. it's clear his memo wasn't the real reason for the comey firing. it was just the cover.

if rosenstein actually does resign, trump would be in real trouble.

of course, this story hasn't been corroborated yet. but there was something a bit fishy about the text, as some journalists pointed out. it wasn't a signed letter - it was a memo. so probably for internal use. it didn't actually say comey should be fired.

from the reporting, it sounds like trump requested the memo following a discussion between trump, the recused ag, and rosenstein.

so as usual, the whole white house communication is full of lies. these guys can't even fire someone without making stuff up.

of course, it is obvious what the truth is. trump fired comey because he didn't like the investigation he was running.

Deputy attorney general threatened to quit after being cast as impetus of dismissal, source says

A person close to the White House said that President Trump had already decided to fire the FBI director. Accounts from more than 30 officials at the White House, Justice Department and on Capitol Hill indicate that the president was angry that James Comey would not support his baseless claim that President Obama had his campaign offices wiretapped. And he fumed that Comey was giving too much attention to the Russia probe and not enough to investigating leaks to journalists.
