For myself, I think Trump is a product of the frustrations generated by a constitution which makes experimentation hard.

But I guess I should concede that having created the aberration, the constitution is also preventing the worst damage which Trump can do.

Seeking health care change via Congress, Trump - who is not known for his patience - has discovered that the Constitution renders law-making miserably slow moving. And that the two-party framework conceals internal sub-party divisions which make agreement a tortuous discovery process. In engaging on tax reform, he will surely discover the same problem.

On an alternative path, Trump also dashes off poorly considered EOs. But these run afoul of the courts. Judges' decisions are festooned with thoughtful considerations of constitutional rights and common law precedents. So the provisions of his EOs will also inevitably get stuck in a lengthy review process. And any EOs he writes will immediately get overturned by the next President.

Under the constitution, the electorate will get another shot at electing a fair chunk of its representatives and senators in less than two years. I am looking forward to that. Perhaps young people will vote for the future of the planet in larger numbers this time.
