The excuse of his press people, who know he is making it up, is that he has access to information resources which they don't. This tells you:
1. They have seen no evidence supporting Trump's position.
2. They are making sure their own fingerprints are not on the President's claim, in order to avoid personal reputational damage.
3. Nevertheless they are trying to kick the problem to Congress by demanding they investigate the President's dishonest claim.
But Congress is going to say - show me the evidence. Why should they eat yet another sh*t sandwich served by the Liar President? The president needs to eat the food he serves.
