Agree, except I am in favor of very low tax rates, minimal government, increased legal immigration (done right) and strict construction.

You must know a different type of Republican than I know. The ones I know are benevolent, thoughtful, self reliant problem solvers. They contribute time and money to address societal problems without looking to the government, or serving their own self interest. They use persuasion and lead by example rather than using government to impose their ideas.

hi csl,

often. but i have no taste for identity politics myself. it ends up being a victimhood contest and i think that's terribly unhealthy.

also, obama was pretty crap at foreign policy, but so was bush.

i am with republicans when they were lowering extremely high tax rates, but not when they are lowering moderate ones.

no major objections to restricting immigration if it is done right. perfectly legitimate to reduce the flow.

strict construction is a useful tool so gives interesting perspectives, but it's too inflexible for most uses.

otherwise, hard to think of anything i agree with the current gop about. basically, if the premises fail, which i believe they do, it's just a philosophy of selfishness and a lack of compassion.
