Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

RasmussenReports.com

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 38% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 40% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. (see trends).

Regular updates are posted Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update).

For the fourth straight month, the Rasmussen Reports Consumer Spending Update shows confidence in the economy trending upward.

With the Democratic Party saying it will go into full-time opposition to the president for the next four years, we asked voters which leading Democrat would best represent the party in 2020 if Trump seeks reelection. See what voters say at 10:30.

Refugees from the seven countries the Obama administration identified as terrorist states are flooding into the country following a federal appellate court ruling that halted the president’s temporary refugee and visa ban. Most voters support Trump’s plan to halt these newcomers until proper vetting procedures can be put in place to screen out potential terrorists.

Most also think Trump will put America's interests first in his foreign policy decisions unlike President Obama who they felt put what was best for the world first.

The president is receiving lots of pushback from Democrats and many in the media over his foreign policy direction. Like most major issues, voters' partisan identification colors how they view this criticism.

The Senate has now confirmed Congressman Tom Price as secretary of Health and Human Services. Price, a longtime critic of Obamacare, is now expected to begin dismantling the controversial law. The health care law is viewed as Obama’s number one achievement, but only 12% of voters want to leave it as is.

Most voters still agree the federal government should only do the things Congress and the president agree on.

Democrats unsuccessfully opposed newly-confirmed Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, but many Americans share her views on some key areas in education including school choice.

Some readers wonder how we come up with our job approval ratings for the president since they often don’t show as dramatic a change as some other pollsters do. It depends on how you ask the question and whom you ask.

To get a sense of longer-term job approval trends for the president, Rasmussen Reports compiles our tracking data on a full month-by-month basis.

Rasmussen Reports has been a pioneer in the use of automated telephone polling techniques, but many other firms still utilize their own operator-assisted technology (see methodology).

Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members.
