I disagree.
Some Democrats seem rational, sensible and moral. They are not all ideological, emotional, and unpredictable.

I agree.

There appear to be two Americas. One of them seems rational and sensible and moral. The other is ideological and emotional and unpredictable.

But they are surely elements of the same whole.

He is the pure and unrestrained id of America. To get him under control perhaps suggests the need for an American super-ego. But I am not sure what that is. The courts, perhaps.
