I wonder if Trump's Twitter posts are in contempt of court. They clearly are literally. But are they legally?

"Contempt of court, often referred to simply as "contempt", is the offence of being disobedient to or disrespectful towards a court of law and its officers in the form of behavior that opposes or defies the authority, justice, and dignity of the court. It manifests itself in willful disregard of or disrespect for the authority of a court of law, which is often behavior that is illegal because it does not obey or respect the rules of a law court." - Wikipedia

"The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!" - Trump

Sounds contemptuous to me. If I were the judge, I'd haul him in to explain himself.

Look in the mirror, mate!

It was, of course, Trump's rush to put something out that was the problem. He didn't even consult his own attorney general. If he thought it was important, he should have sought opinions and inputs. Then the mess would not have happened.

It looks to me like Trump can't manage a large organisation. He's used to using a small inner team and his family. But the US government is much, much larger than Trump Inc.

He's entrepreneurial and impulsive. These can be assets in a smaller organisation which can flex around the CEO's intuition. But doing things without thinking them through is dangerous for a government. You can impose costs you never imagined existed. (On this measure, Rex Tillerson would have made a better president).

For the sake of the USA, I hope he learns to stop rushing and to be more deliberate. We all know there was no emergency. The US was managing immigration fairly well. The US' Moslem issues are home-grown. All he needed to do was to adjust the volume of immigrants if he wanted to keep the flow at a manageable level. If he wanted, he could also have introduced more extensive questioning.

No ban. Job done.
