it means that idc provides a more palatable value proposition for the manufactures....than does qcom....one of the primary things I have always felt was that qcom was way overcompensated for their contributions to the market....the simple fact that idc has an upper limit [$200] on the amount that the royalty rate can be applied to...tells most of the story....vs qcoms insistence that royalties be paid on the entire phone price[700+].....idc's model is much more realistic because they are only trying to collect on the parts of the phone that interact w/ the network...
