I wonder if the American people know about this part of history

I came upon an article in Greek that has pictures of the German soldiers captured at the end of world war 2, and were mistreated with up to a million of them dying in captivity from Aplril 1945 to September. They were NOT classified as prisoners of war, but as GUESS WHAT :CAPTURED ENEMY COMBATANTS. The same categorization as the Guantanamo crowd! Except they were given nothing to survive with, and were dying in numbers every day.
