New Yorkers in their hearts know that George was a New Yorker, not any of that Mount Vernon stuff, and tales of Cherry Trees and Virginia.
This is where the General fought the Brits on Manhattan, Long Island, and White Plains before he skedaddled cross
river to Trenton and Princeton and then Valley Forge.

He came back and toured Long Island and found our farmland a bit lacking. He sailed up the Hudson and chose a flat piece of land and there is West Point.

He could not have dreamed of a Roosevelt at Hyde Park or of Ulsyses Grant on the West Side Highway.

There were only two and a half million of us stretched thin in 13 little 'statelets' along the East Coast of North America.
Slim pickings, but we always had him.
New York has shed more blood in defense of liberty than any other State.

New Yorkers apologize to the nation for this evil bastard.
