The article seems to indicate that Giuliani has his own group of followers within the FBI and they pushed the announcement of the email review. Giuliani seemed to know what was happening in advance, so we know he was intimately involved with this group. At the same time they seem to have disrupted the investigation of Putin's breach of DNC security and the promotion of Trump, per this article.
Giuliani - the guy who is in charge of the cybersecurity review. Breathtaking.
And meanwhile Trump is ignoring Putin's malicious intervention and talking about removing sanctions on Russia rather than strengthening them.
Indeed, Trump's National Security Advisor seems to have got on the phone to the Russian ambassador as soon as he heard about Obama's expulsion of the Russian embassy's spies. Where did that information come from? Surely someone is investigating Flynn and is suspicious and wanting to send a signal. Perhaps they have a recording. Putin responded to the expulsions as if he knew that he had no reason to be the least bit concerned. Was this when the message was delivered?
Everything aligns with the notion that Trump and his immediate team are in Putin's pocket. Indeed, within the chaos of his positions, this is the only one that is consistent. There could, of course, be a different explanation and there is the danger of seeing non-existent patterns.
But the appearances are certainly present and the evidence is gradually emerging. Maybe the US will have reason to be grateful to MI6. If the appearances reflect the reality, then one hopes Republicans will do the right thing.
First they have to have the evidence, which means we are back to the FBI. I am cautious about replacing Comey. Comey's replacement would presumably be selected by - well - Trump or his representative. I believe Comey to be honest and patriotic, even if his judgement is questionable. And I think the investigation is underway.
