Are you sure about that calculation?

The population was far smaller back then, so it really isn't possible for a person's ancestry to expand exponentially the further back they look. In fact, what must happen is that as you go back one generation, the number of potential ancestors starts to shrink at some point. If you believe in Adam and Eve, the final additional generation can only give you two extra ancestors. It's a pineapple, not a spout.

I still claim I am neanderthal.

I really still can't figure out the race thing.

Going back just 20 generations to around 1400 by my calculations I have around 1.5 million ancestors that have contributed their DNA to the amazing creature that is me.

If I go back 30 generations, to around the time of the Norman conquest, I guess I have over 3 billion ancestors.

I only knew six of them but I am guessing all 3 billion were most likely heterosexual. I don't think that makes me a homophobe but I do prefer looking at women,... so maybe.
