I have to say, and I know this sounds melodramatic, but I think we are at the end of an era. The American era, the era that stood or tried to stand for certain values, for basic integrity, for justice and mercy, for innovation and discovery, that is ending here.
With Trump we are entering a new phase. One we will see as the beginning of political corruption and the erosion of the wealth and enterprise which came before. Once a system becomes corrupt, it is very difficult to reverse it. Kleptocracies don't thrive.
It is amazing that folks have thrown America away. But they have done.
In twenty years time, there may be islands of liberty. The UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Ireland, Germany and Japan hopefully. But I don't think America is going to make it. What a sad end to a great experiment.
