Woman Hit for Threats to Sandy Hook Dad
Federal authorities have charged a Florida woman with making death threats against the parent of a child who was killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting massacre because she believed the attack was a hoax.
Lucy Richards, 57, from Tampa, was arrested this week after a grand jury indicted her on four felony counts of transmitting threats to the father of 6-year-old boy who was killed.
In January 2016, Richards sent messages to the father—who was left unidentified by the U.S. Justice Department—including ones that read, “you gonna die, death is coming to you real soon,” and “LOOK BEHIND YOU IT IS DEATH.”
If convicted, Richards could face up to five years in prison for each felony charge. The arrest comes nearly five years after the December 14, 2012, shootings in which Adam Lanza, 20, killed 20 first-grade students and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
