I don't like Sessions' views so much.

But ...

Saying you are cautious about the pace of immigration doesn't make you a racist. Looking for value-added immigrants doesn't make you a racist. The identity politics hits are unimpressive to me because they don't paint a complete picture of his views. Such and such happened in 1983 isn't a portrait. It's a brushstroke.

To my mind, the biggest problem is that he is an extremely partisan politician and an AG ought to seem more dispassionate. He must be seen to be a rational and trustworthy steward of the law. I don't think Sessions can be, given his beliefs.

I am looking again at Sessions as the racism claims sound ancient and there's no reason an honest person with conservative principles shouldn't do a good job as AG.

But Flynn is a terrible choice.
