reminds me a bit of the way folks voted for bush and then disavowed the consequences of his presidency. and yet they derived from his policies.

but in voting for him, those folks also were responsible for the neocons' iraq war which has undermined global stability, the lack of governmental seriousness which led to Katrina, the gross inequality produced by lowered taxes for the wealthiest people which led to the massive deficits Obama had to deal with, as well as the belief in regulation-free financial markets that resulted in the 2008 crash. also the terrible harm done to the usa's moral reputation as a consequence of secret rendition, Gitmo and torture.

if you keep on voting for the same sorts of things, expect the same consequences.

just add racial divisiveness to the toxic brew this time around. trump is lucky in that he is inheriting an economy in far better shape than the one obama received from bush. but given enough time, he'll surely find a way to screw it up.

one additional thing about the bush disavowers was that they waited for him to become president!

any descendant of the emigrants that left sub-saharan africa can claim the same thing about themselves! they were welcomed by indigenous homo (types of human) populations in the levant and elsewhere; and sapiens sapiens made their females the receptacle of his goodwill. immigration! huzzah!

the kkk was with trump for a reason. the fact that you were prepared to vote for the white nationalist candidate is bound to have ramifications in the way you are seen by people for whom racial sensitivity matters. you are going to be coloured by it.

you can say, but i don't hold such views. and yet you voted for a man who said some wild things about blacks and mexicans when it suited him. others of his supporters understood that voting for him released them from restraint. some are acting on it. the risk of this was obvious to many. it wasn't bad enough for you to vote a different way. this is why you are tarred with this brush.

it is a pity and a bore for you. but i guess it is worse for the people experiencing the beginning of trump's america. this situation belongs to his voters collectively. you don't get to be responsible only for the things of which you approve. you get the whole package. regardless of your own beliefs.

another position might be to say that the political benefits you see from a republican win outweigh the costs. i imagine these kinds of outbursts from trump supporters will die down. hope so.
