I think this is the best thing that has been said:

"Mario Andrada, a spokesman for the Rio organizers, said he was relieved that the story had turned around.

"Let's give these kids a break. Sometimes you take actions that you later regret," Andrada said. "Lochte is one of the best swimmers of all-time. They had fun, they made a mistake, it's part of life, life goes on, let's go.""

A rap on the knuckles. Public humiliation in the press. That's enough. They won their medals and no one wants a gold when they didn't win the race.

They should forfeit their medals, at a minimum donate their cash awards to charity!
They are pathetic & show how entitled they think they are. They'll have besmirched our reputation...

“Unfortunately, the swimmers told one lie after another, said a Brazilian police official who had reviewed the video images.
