TARRYTOWN, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for much of the lower Hudson Valley.
The advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday for Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties. An excessive heat watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday evening.
The combination of heat and humidity, which could send heat indices to around 100 degrees, will increase the risk for heat-related health issues.
Heat index values into Thursday evening are 100 to 103. For Friday, they are 100 to 105 degrees, with both Saturday and Sunday around 105 degrees.
The highest heat indices are expected for the mid- to late-afternoon.
