Bangladeshi troops stormed an upscale restaurant in Dhaka’s diplomatic quarter on Saturday, ending an 11-hour standoff with gunmen who had detonated explosives and taken hostages.
The authorities said 20 hostages, including several foreigners, had been killed on Friday night, mostly with sharp weapons. Thirteen hostages were rescued in the raid on Saturday morning.
The Bangladeshi military said six of the seven attackers were killed in the rescue operation on Saturday. The seventh was arrested.
