...if I was in your situation I believe I would try to keep it as quiet as I could. The very folks you are counting on for help could show up with more family members and friends that you could take care of and if ya turned em away they would be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.
...ya also might want to study up on some of the mantraps the viets used on us. Punji sticks etc. Get yourself some of them nails they use to put gutters on houses with. Mantraps and snipers can be very stressful on roving gangs.
