Boris Johnson, who was favorite to become Britain’s next prime minister a few days ago, sensationally pulled out of the race Thursday. He was stunned a few hours earlier when his closest ally turned against him. Michael Gove, who was going to be Johnson’s campaign manager, announced that he would stand for the leadership himself and claimed that he was forced to do so because Johnson had proved himself unfit to lead. The old friends successfully worked together to win the Brexit vote.
