That's a problem for me, too.
When I head up north in July, it will be my first visit since last August. That's a whole year - the longest I've ever been away - and I probably won't be able to see the driveway.
I mow the driveway with a conventional power mower since I don't want all that chopped grass falling into the gravel and seeding new growth. So I'll be mowing the driveway for a couple of hours on Day #1, and going over it again with Roundup a week later.
It's funny, but the closer I get to actually moving to New Hampshire, the scarcer my visits are becoming. That's because my son is older now and it's impractical to pull him out of school for a week or more. And when he DOES get a break (Easter, which was in March this year, and Christmas), there's far too much snow. So we don't go then either.
In 2015, we went to NH at the very end of March. My son made a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=coQUw2Rcr8c
