Speaking of water...

I've got an interesting problem up north. While my land has streams, they're BELOW where I'll be building and planting crops. So, if I lose electricity, my well will go out and I'll have a tough time getting water to the crops.

I should think about installing water tanks at the top of the field. I wonder what that will cost.

Luckily, New Hampshire gets a lot of rainfall - typically several storms every week. My crops will probably be okay most years. As for the house, I'll need to get at least one old-fashioned hand pump. I've seen them on the internet. They aren't too expensive.

Endless issues...

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

re: " I have every one of them. Unfortunately, you and I are a long way away from each other."

Yep, I'd team up with you in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it'd probably be a case of my not having much to offer YOU. Maybe some of the things I've socked away that I'm not going to mention again on an internet site...

Out of curiosity, do you have enough land to put in a sizeable garden? If you don't, you really should buy some. If you do have the land, do you have a garden? You might want to put in some fruit trees, too. They take time.
