re: "Desmond saw a bear."

Desmond tapped out on DAY ONE. He knew he'd be staying on an island with one of the densest black-bear populations on Earth, so he got there, panicked and quit. "Wuss" is too kind of a word for such an idiot.

I've had quite a few encounters with black bears, and they're usually as afraid of people as people are of them. I've chased them out of my camps. I was once washing dishes in a stream alongside a meadow, and campers on the other side of the meadow chased a HUGE one out into the meadow where it came racing straight at and past me. That was a little scary. While backpacking, I spent 15 minutes walking down a narrow trail alongside a bear 30 feet away that was doing the same thing. Neither of us seemed too concerned so it wasn't a big deal. On another trip, some girls in our group had the side of their tent slit open while they were asleep. Some toothpaste and their camera were missing. I found the camera fifty feet away with a hole where the bear's tooth had pierced its casing. (Pretty cool,if you ask me.) And ONCE, I woke up to see the side of my tent, right next to my face, being pushed in as ***SOMETHING*** on the other side took a big, long, loud inhale. One guess what that was!

I'm probably foolishly UNAFRAID of bears. Black bears, I mean. Brown bears would scare the bejesus outa me. If there were grizzlies on that island, I wouldn't go. But there aren't.

Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months

Desmond saw a bear.
Mary nearly cut her thumb off while splitting firewood
Tracy saw a bear.

Thought they would all last longer than they did. They probably stayed longer than I would have.

My picks from what is left is Jose, Justin, Mike and Nicole. If I was pickin who I thought would win I would pick Mike (he will likely get eaten by a bear this week if my luck holds up to it's normal level of horsepoop.
