I was with you right up until the end. But the quoted sentence above suggests that you might not know what's involved.

Unless your plan includes defaulting on Social Security and Medicare obligations...

If you do that, then it might be possible to repay the debt in 8 years. But you'd kill a lot of people in the process. Would you have the stomach for that?

The only other way I think you could actually repay what we owe would be to monetize the debt. That is, to print enough money to pay it all off. I'm sure you can guess what the side effects of that would be.

Or will be, since that's what the powers that be are striving for today. Monetization of debt is the big Keynesian plan. It involves screwing over a huge number of people, but that's okay to the leftists because they think that the victims can afford it.
