hi clo,

for me, there was no right or wrong decision in bush-gore. just perspectives. the available facts were inadequate to know the winner in florida in the desirable timescale.

for myself, i thought bush might have stepped aside because he had fewer votes in the country as a whole. but maybe it is asking too much for someone to fall on their sword for a higher cause these days.

so someone had to choose and who better than the supreme court to do so. even when one disagrees, at least the reasoning is interesting.

for myself, i thought the manner of his victory and the experience of bush's team meant he would be a respectable, evenhanded president. it didn't go quite as i expected.

Exactly, Cactus Flower.

The Supreme's had a 'easy' state, Florida, where the governor was GWB's bro... and their secretary of state Katherine Harris played right along. Remember her, red lips, big hair. Bet she was hoping to be rewarded in his administration.

Another amazing factoid with the Supreme's decision, they NOTED their decision could NOT be used as precedence in the future... so they had their cake & ate it too!
