...in all the old navy movies ya would see em yelling ANCHORS AWAY and the anchors would all be dropped into the ocean. In history, ANCHORS AWEIGH was an indication given by the folks raising the anchor that the anchor had been lifted off the ocean floor and was A WEIGHT. Thus Anchors Aweigh.
