Zimbler: re: "Keep us posted on this, De."
Or Nemo will, I'm sure.
You know, we laugh at the absurdity of a $2,500 monthly payment for every adult citizen. But is it SO different from what we do here, where SS pays out far more than it collects?
And SS isn't our worst offender. At least it collects a significant amount of money from its beneficiaries. And many of them (though not nearly as many as expected by those who designed the program) die before their benefits exceed what they've paid. I don't know if the chart above takes that into account or not. At a high interest rate, which we don't have and probably never will again, the difference between what was collected in Social Security taxes and what gets paid out might not be that extreme. But what about Medicare? It's in far worse shape. As you can see below, we've brewed a socialist nightmare of our own. And - getting back to Switzerland - that leaves me wondering . . . who are we to talk?
Gold is $1,581/oz today. When it hits $2,000, it will be up 26.5%. Let's see how long that takes. - De 3/11/2013 - ANSWER: 7 Years, 5 Months |
