Good. But in Republican circles, the point of departure for a narrative usually doesn't matter. Its purpose is served long before the truth is revealed and the law is applied. Think Benghazi!

It's the journey that counts. The assault on Planned Parenthood moves forward, unaffected. The ends always justify the means. In the fight for life and against abortion, lies can be useful.

Generating new bubbles of outrage in the present matters more than old ones that have burst. The political caravan moves along well before the deceit is revealed.

Someone, somewhere, read Machiavelli and decided this was a worthwhile way of doing business. "Politics", so he said, "have no relation to morals."
