you see in this us election how hitler emerged in germany during/after the great depression. when people have had a tough time, they become unmoored from the normal way of doing things. they start to consider anyone with a different idea of what to do. i consider bernie, trump and cruz as falling into this category.
of course, hitler's economics minister did a brilliant job of figuring how to get germany out of its depression. massive infrastructure spending. but that didn't do anything to justify nazism.
