I think most of the Americans who are fed up with him have an array of complaints. Mine is with his blind spot with Islam and generally his foreign policy.

He can say what he will about American leadership of the world but I get the impression that the perception outside the USA is that Bush destroyed it and Obama hasn't retrieved it. China is now a major actor economically and Russia has reemerged as a meaningful military power because it is willing to do stuff. If all you do is justify doing very little in the hopes that time will cure the problems you face, at some point people realise you aren't actually doing much yourself to influence the outcome.

if this speech is really the quality of obama's thinking

Gosh, is there any doubt? Shame that some are only just now figuring that out, and many still haven't.

if he's so enveloped in mushy ideals and so little in reality, then i guess that explains his response and why it is so weak.

And why so many Americans are so fed up with him.
