I agree with Rachel, this is all questionable.
I also have problems when 'hiking citizens' get lost in Iran & North Korea.
Let them stay there, why should Americans risk saving them?? Use a GPS, get a map or stay home!
It's easy 200km across the Persian Gulf, and Farsi island sits right in the middle. Making up facts makes one crazy. Don't emulate that soutnern asshole. Use your brain.
