Good Morning ZZ!
Farsi Island is an itsy bitsy little piece of Iranian crap inside the Persian Gulf.
It's not hundreds of miles from land. It sits right in the middle of the Gulf between Iran and the Arabian Peninsula. It is inside the Straits of Hormuz to the North. Bring it up on Google Earth. Hilarious.
A small island, with an Iranian naval base on it, which creates a little "bubble" on the Iranian off-shore limits.
Very easy to violate in high speed boats, and very close to a large fleet of small high speed Iranian vessels. And of course the US boats were being watched and triangulated.
The rocket last week fired near the US Harry Truman was a demonstration by the Iranians of how freaking upsetting, demeaning, and belittling it must be for the bastards to have US aircraft carriers sitting there offshore. All the time.
I would imagine a squadron of F-16s sitting in sight of land must be aggravating to them.
Fuck them.
The Navy has a never ending institutional memory.
The Navy gives no quarter and forgets nothing.
Farsi Island will be a crispy little rock in the middle of the Gulf if the Iranians push the window too much.
The reason the Iranians were helpful?
Lot's of possibilities.
The Iranian economy is in horrific shape.
Oil income has been decimated by sanctions, on top of the collapse in the price of oil. Industries have been destroyed. Unemployment is at insane levels.
Bordering Afghanistan, Iran has a spectacular hard drug problem.
It is a broken society.
Subsidizing death and terror and destruction, the taking of the boats amounts to a bit of a sissy-fit.
If the Iranians didn't have oil the world wouldn't shit on them.
Holding a bunch of American sailors could have evolved into a suicide gesture.
Don't mess with a lame duck Hawaiian.
