The curious thing is Germany's reaction. Folks don't want to confront issues that contradict their sacred beliefs, especially when several of them are in opposition. If you are determined to think we can all just get along, you are going to wish to pretend certain things haven't happened, even when they do.
So a crowd of more than 1,000 Arab/Levantine and North African men in Cologne, many of whom are categorised as refugees, collectively sexually abused over 100 German women near the train station.
This wasn't some random behaviour. It was done as a group and repeated in different cities throughout Northern Europe.
Rather than choose between Western ideas of gender equality and respect for women and Western ideas of cultural equality and immigration, people go silent. Germany didn't report these events for 5 days.
Good grief.
For myself, I am concerned for the victims. That's to say, the women who were touched, fondled and raped. And others that will pay the price of the reckless open borders policy. I already guessed that mixing so many mostly Moslem immigrants into a Western society at once was going to cause problems. Here's the result.
For myself, I thought a politician's first duty was to protect its own citizens.
In the long run, of course, the issue becomes the demand for cultural conversion. Instead of these folks being trained to behave with respect and in accordance with the secular law, we will be told we must be sensitive to their values and their religion.
The things that were just revealed.
I wish it was possible to be nice. But sometimes you don't get a simple choice.
