I suspect that if the people, who in the poll referenced below responded that they thought that Obama was a Muslim, had been asked instead, and if their answers were based on how they truly felt, that the vast majority of that 54% would have said that they disapproved of his actions as president because he was black and therefore does not share their beliefs, which is exactly the reason why those same 54% said that they think he's a Muslim:
